Brookhaven's 2025 Building Permit Amnesty Program Has Ended

Update: The Town of Brookhaven's 2025 residential building permit amnesty program ran from January 1 through March 31, 2025 and has ended. The information below is a summary of that past program.

What the 2025 program covered

The temporary program addressed certain residential work completed without required permits and permits that had been expired for more than 90 days. During the amnesty period, eligible owners could resolve those issues without additional amnesty-related penalties, while still paying applicable standard permit or renewal fees.

What property owners should do now

Because the amnesty window is closed, property owners should verify current application requirements, fees and renewal procedures directly with the Town of Brookhaven Building Division. Current Town information is available at https://www.brookhavenny.gov/284/Building-Division.
